Seriously. That wheelbase is almost as long as the parking spot.

The end spot is pretty clutch, when your vehicle is that long.

Huge truck, still parked better than most people can park a compact.

Probably has better visibility than a modern compact

The worst part of that generation HD Ford is that the 4X4 steering design severely limited steering angle compared to a more modern truck of the same wheelbase. I once owned a F350 crew cab/long bed 4x4 (complete with 7.3 IDI oil burner ). The turning radius was best described as “I just park at the end of the lot by default.”

Wasn't the front suspension design also super jankety?

Not really an excuse to park like crap.

Not especially for the time, really only by modern standards.

I used to see one of these in Montana that was a custom rig, crew cab and extended cab with a long bed. It was a looooong truck, family of 8 owned it.

The F- 350 4x4 (like pictured) had a normal solid axle/leaf combo (Dana 60) by then. Around 85 or so they went from the odd Dana 50 TTB/leafs combo to a normal solid D60/l eafs up front . The F-250 kept the weird TTB/leafs but went from the D44HD (D50 optional ) to only the Dana 50 TTB axle in that same time (85 or so) and kept it through 97. The mid 80s was also when they started to transition from the rear 9" and Danas to the 8.8 and Sterlings.

right!  though putting the left front wheel up on the curb for style points would have been acceptable too

I had a rental F150 work spec with an 8-foot bed and 4 door cab. Couldn’t park that thing for shit. Once you get moving it’s okay tho.

My VW Transporter dual cab is not a great deal shorter. Just lop off most of that engine bay and shorten the wheelbase a few inches and the job is done. The key difference though is that the Transporter is substantially narrower.

That would be wheelbase though...not total length? I say that because I think my VW Transporter dual cab is deep into the 5 metre range (is over 200 inches) for total length.

Oof . A truck that big shouldn’t even be parked in a space like that. It’s like trying to park a stretch limo.

Yes, wheelbase. I have a Lincoln that has only a 131" wheelbase, but is 227" overall. I believe the truck exceeds it, but not as much as the wheelbase difference would indicate because the rear overhang on the Lincoln is preposterous.

Honestly these crew cab LWB trucks aren’t really that bad to drive. I’ve driven these on and off over the years for various reasons. I just had a ‘20 Ram 2500 CC LB 4x4 6.4/8spd in Calgary (pre COVID) and drove it all over the city, Banff, and Lake Louise through tight snow filled streets that were not always plowed and one died (that I’m aware of lol). 14.1L/100km (16.7mpg)! Made me reconsider my midsize truck philosophy...ZR2 felt tiny after.

Aren’t “full size” spaces typically 18 feet long (20 if you’re lucky)? That truck’s gotta be, what, 22 feet, or more?
